Navigating Your Inner Labyrinth

When my son started learning to drive, I quickly put my head in the sand and kept it there for a while. I didn’t want to face my fears, his growing up, and my discomfort of another “letting go” in parenting. I knew exactly what I was doing and even admitted it aloud to him.

When we are honest with ourselves, we can name the things we avoid. And we all do it, especially with our souls.

Quaker teacher Parker Palmer captures this reality below, saying,

“It is easier to spend your life manipulating an institution than dealing with your own soul. We make institutions sound complicated and hard and rigorous, but they are simplicity itself compared with our inner labyrinths.” Leading from Within, p.202

How many of us take on a (seemingly) harder and bigger challenge that we can conquer than avoid what we cannot conquer or control?

How many of us keep our souls at a distance because we are afraid of what we will see when we look?

How can we choose courage when we face the complexity of our souls?

We at the Center for Spiritual Formation understand the fear, avoidance, resistance, and so much more when it comes to our souls.

And we have spaces where your soul can learn, be, and listen to God, itself, and others.

See below for online and in-person opportunities, such as the Certificate in Spiritual Formation, the Online Retreat of Silence, and the Fuller Colorado Springs Event

We’d love for you to take a step toward your inner labyrinth in any of the following ways. We’re glad to walk on this journey together.
